You are not allowed to cycle from Tashkurgan to Sost, therefore need to take Bus till sost.

From Sost till Juglot (Nanga Parbat View Point) you are allowed to cycle. Beyond that point either you need to take bus or may be (Not sure) you will be escorted by police till Manshera.

If you are planning to cycle after mid June then take alternate route via Babusar Pass to Naran and Abbotabad.

Greetings from Islamabad,

From Islamabad till Thakot you could make it easily and after that you'd be escorted by a police van , who'd change according to the jurisdiction of the police stations on the way and it'd continue till Thalechi, some 1.5 hrs from Gilgit and after that you'd be free till Sost and Khunjerab pass.

Cycling on that routs is not an easy task. Though jeeps can go, a cycle can go as well. The only issue is mountainous area, if you able to drive on uneven surfaces. Safety is not a concern. Its 100% safe.

Cycling is definitely doable, although, a tough gig from a physical point of view. Road condition is relatively good the whole way depending on your route. It can get positively horrendous in some other parts, and dusty which is a pain on a bike. We did the Karokoram by car recently, our article is here: https:/…

Some information may be of use to you like road condition, police escorts, safety concerns etc.

Happy travels.
