Family friendly resort - not requiring seaplane.. For June

Hi,

I'm looking to come in June with 4 kids aged 5 months to 7 years old..

I once came with wife and infant and stayed in what was the Waldorf... had great time.

This time around I'm looking for something more reasonably priced... fitting for kids. I would like snorkeling and maybe some diving, kids need nice kids pool, play room, lotsa sandy beaches (everywhere to be had I'm sure :)

Having a villa with a kitchenette would be big plus, as I would like to bring some food with me for kids. Also a place that doesn't charge big premium for young kids, or perhaps place which has 2 bd room villas...

I would need a place which doesn't require seaplane as that alone would greatly increase costs...

Any help and suggestions greatly appreciated.

I Think Bandos is one of the more childfriendly Islands within speedboat reach of male. However dont Think Any of the more reasonably priced resort Islands offer kitchenettes, however could be wrong:-)

Thanks, I'll take a look.. I'm looking to spend about $600 a night... Shouldn't June be cheaper than other months?

If I recall correctly when I went in June there seemed to be lots of availability, perhaps worth waiting to get good last minute deals (if I'm not picky on the island)?

I am use to staying in nice places, so by saying reasonably priced, I don't mean the cheapest possible accommodations... it would be hard after spending a week at the waldorf..

Reason I mentioned kitchenette is for kosher reasons... but its not a must

Looked at Bandos seems to be all inclusive which is a waste being that we won't be eating...

Also seems tricky finding accommodations for 4 kids, most places are listing max occupancy as 2+3 or so...

May/June is cheaper than the high season months but....you are looking for accommodation together for 6 so that is going to be the tricky part. Most standard rooms will take 2 adults with 1 or 2 children I think.

I believe you Can choose your mealplan in bandos as you wish when looking at purely maldives.

You may have to look at 2 interconnecting rooms - which is going to be tricky to find at your budget of 300 USD per room.

Sorry - am I missing something... you say you won't be eating. How long are you planning on going for? Are you seriously not going to eat for the entire duration of your holiday?

We normally manage with 2 br villas wherever we go, as they are very young.. we have small mobile cot for infant, and 2 beds will do for the others so as long as the resort would allow this occupancy, one king and two singles is fine.. (especially if theres a couch or something.. )

As far as price I'm a little flexible if necessary.

As far as food I'm just saying all inclusive resorts won't work. Last time we customs ordered kosher meals to be brought in (at a cost)... All inclusive won't offer that, so we'll just be wasting money on food we won't be eating.

I think you'll need to speak with a specialised Maldives tour op such as Purely Maldives as you need to find the islands which actually have a 2 bed villa (or 2 interconnecting rooms) that will allow 6 and is in budget. You will also be able to discuss your food requirements with a specialist op.

If you end up with a choice of islands then you could post it here for comments to help you make a final selection.
