Masks- Buy Cheap Buy Twice ;-))))

After over 25 years of excellent service from my dive / snorkel mask which I purchased from a local dive shop ,it started leaking when in vilamendhoo ;-) gutted !!!!

So can anyone recommend a high quality mask to purchase for hopefully the next couple of decade's ;-) mainly for snorkeling but will hopefully progress onto diving ;-)

You need to go to a good dive shop to try on masks for fit .. I have 2 Oceanic Shadows ( I always carry a backup mask for my diving ) which fit me great but they might not fit your face , not all masks fit me

You need to try different masks

Thanks Paul

I didn't want to go into the local dive shop knowing nothing about masks because they all look the same and I don't want to end up paying over the odds if it's not worth it ,

I don't mind paying a lot for something that's worth it

Cressi are more of a mid range i would say -must be cos i'd never buy cheap nor would i pay over the odds. Really cant remember the exact price for mine but bought Cressi for the OH last year for Athuruga and think it was something like £30 to £35. Also bought her a mesh dive gear bag which she laughed at and swore she would never use but as usual she was wrong and used it all the time to carry round her fins/mask.snorkel , water bottle etc from room to beach. We even had a matchy matchy set as i got a new one too lol

ebay.co.uk/itm/…

I have got a couple of Bodyglove masks which I have been using for over 10 years, still water tight and only a little yellowing to the silicon skirts. I do wash them after every use and keep them out of uv though.

Cheaper end, circa £15 - £25, not looking to change as they work for me.

Tusa , Cressi , Oceanic , Mares , Scubapro ..

It's all about the fit and comfort .. if you go to a good dive shop they will make sure you get a mask which is right for you

A good dive shop will also be able to provide prescription lenses if needed.
