How about ecology lessons i.e not to stand on coral or yank big chunks of it off? There's some islands having to instigate a fine for standing on the coral as it seems to be a pastime for our Asian friends.

I thought I would bump this one as having recently returned I was amazed at the amount of Chinese at our resort.

Apparently the package they have is for 4 days two in a beach villa and 2 in a water villa apparently a logistical nightmare!!

I have to say that the culture of the maldives caters very much towards a Western Clientele and I wonder if this will change as more and more Chinese visitors appear?

Apparently flight numbers are increasing from China in the next few months, has anyone else recently experienced an increased number of guests from mainland China and did it affect your holiday at all?

@66BJF

Yes, apparently that`s correct - 2nights in a Beach Villa and 2nights in a Water Villa for most chinese guests!

We are just back from Vakarufalhi and approx. 80% of the guests were from China! Apart from some "strange table manors" we didn`t notice anyhting special. We had bungalow neighbours from Switzerland and China and all were friendly (some language barriers although all were smiling and happy). The island was very quiet and peaceful during day time (we asked and apparently many chinese tourists don`t want to get a suntan, so they stay inside in the heat of the day) and beaches were empty and deserted depsite being fully booked, so we were happy! :-)

Yes, same for us when they did venture out they covered themselves head to toe and looked like Avatars :)

We did note one or two having far too much too drink but that's the AI joy and a pleasure to watch :)
