Honeymood water bungalows??

Hi there,

I hope you can help me as you have done in the past.

I am getting married in late July and am looking for the perfect honeymoon in a great resort in our favourite place - Malaysia.

We would like a Maldives feel (but without the expense and time to get there from Tokyo!)

I have seen beautiful islands in Sabah etc but are any places that have everything we want? Namely:

1.water bungalows

2.crystal clear water (not murky langkawi water!!)

3.a nice beach

4.great food

5.a bit of nightlife but definitely not a crowded place

6. quiet, serene and romantic

7. not tooooo expensive if possible!

Looking at my greedy list i'm not sure if such a place exists. Do you know of anywhere like it??

Thanks so much

Hi. You can try Gayana Eco Resort in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah if you haven't been there. It is now uplifted with better and nicer facilities.

You can look up this link for more info,

You didn't define "not too expensive". And it IS a long list of preferences! However. I've 3 in mind:

1) Tanjung Jara Resort. Pretty luxurious for local standards (ie not necessarily the Four Seasons but very, very decent!). In Terengganu (East Coast) which means clear water in July. It's not a "water bungalow" resort though.

2) Pangkor Laut Resort. Run by the same group as the above. Also luxurious (the late Pavarotti stayed here). It's on its own island. Water surrounding the island is decent enough but not crystal clear like on the East Coast.

3) Pangkor Island Beach Resort. 4 stars at best. They do have chalets on stilts in the water. Again clarity is not the best.

Malaysian towns, as you may be aware, do not have much nightlife (I assuming you mean the bar/pub/club scene). The closest we have to nightlife in these towns are the gathering of friends at 3am sipping hot tea and eating Indian breads! For a combo of nightlife, great atmosphere, you need to go to Koh Samui or Phuket in Thailand or Bali.

Happy research!

I can think of two places that have water bungalows

1. Pangkor Laut Resort (5 hrs drive from KL; flight available as well) - 5*

2. Avillion Port Dickson (1.5 hrs drive from KL) - 4*

Of the two, the 1st one is by far my favorite. Being in a private island, it does not offer any nightlife, other than the usual hotel bar. But somewhat expensive (relative depending from where you are from; cheap by Tokyo standards !)

Congratulations and thank you very much for choosing your next honeymoon at Malaysia.

Its very difficulties to find what you dreaming its with low cost budget. There have some place at Mabul Island at Semporna Sabah..its very expensive.

July is the best month to travel at East Coast of Malaysia...Terengganu surrounding with beautiful Island and clean beach.

i can give among the best place for honeymoon place..its on shore. The place is The Aryani..its Royal Retreat..best time and place to relax .

For budget package at Island....Perhentian Island,Kapas Island,Redang Island and Tenggol Island.

welcome to malaysia

thank you for your replies. it seems that Terengganu is the best place for the weather and clear water in july but the water bungalow resorts don`t seem so great. Any more ideas folks?

here are some water bungalow resorts in sabah. not much of night life there unless you go underwater for a night dive. water will be crystal clear. only problem may be noisy divers.

sad to say mike but i don't think a place that meets all your criteria exists in malaysia.

pangkor laut meets your requirement for good accomodation for a honeymoon, its a water bungalow, but no nightlife or crystal clear water.

lankayan in sabah has crystal clear water but accomodation is basic. no nightlife at all. its a small isolated island with good marine life.

japamala in tioman also has crystal clear water, good accomodation though not water bungalows but again no nightlife.

berjaya in langkawi has the water bungalows, but you know about the murky water in langkawi. plus side its a bigger island, so there are other things to do on the island.
