Boat Travel from Vientiane (VT) to Vang Vieng (VV)

Is there a boat service in these two places? When does it start from VT and when it reaches VV? How is the service and do we get tickets on the spot?

Some one told that there is no such service? If so, how to travel from VT to VV. I presume it may be by bus.

I want to take boat travel from VV to Labang Prabang. Can any one advise me about its feasibility?

Hi,

Boat trips go the other way ie downstream. You can gate a VIP bus to Van Vieng for about $17. Its an easy and fairly comfortable trip. U can buy a ticket in agents in VT. Make sure u buy a gauranteed seat beforehand. some people tried to get on with us but got put off the bus to wait for later one. We bought ours day before. There are several buses that go there.

You can do great kayak or tube trips in V. V. You can then continue by bus to LP but a better option for this section is to get on a minibus as this section is very winding and scenic. Good for photos.

Have a great trip. Laos is awesome

You can't travel by river from Vang Vieng to Vientiane, but there is a kayaking trip that offers something like this that has created this rumour. Basically the trip leaves from Vang Vieng by road for an hour or so, you kayak for about 4-5 hours and then by car for another hour or so.

You actually only kayak about 10km of the 160km trip, but it makes the trip a little different.
