Hotel near train station

We are planning to take the train from Saigon to Phan Thiet (and back).

is it ok to book on http://www.vietnamtrain.com/ and have them deliver the tickets to our hotel? We arrive late the day before and with such an early train, I'd rather no run around to get tickets.

Due to the early time of the train, I am looking for hotel not too far from the train station. In what district of Saigon should I be looking?

And I read this notice on another website. Does it apply to us? "According to Vietnam Railway Office, They must to repair a railway bridge (the Ghenh Bridge) in Dong Nai province from March till June 30th, 2016. So, All Trains depart from/to Ho Chi Minh city To/From other cities in the North will be departed from/to Bien Hoa station. Bien Hoa station is start/final station instead of Saigon station within 4 months. It takes 45 minutes (30 Km) by taxi from/to Saigon station to/from Bien Hoa station."

Thanks.

You should book ticket on Saigon railway offical site: dsvn.vn

The broken bridge is now connected so you can go straight to Saigon Railway Station, don't need to go to Bien Hoa. There are always cheap hotels around station(not that clean). You don't need to stay near the railway station, just stay in district 1, 3, 10, if it's early train, the traffic will be fine.

You also don't need to have them deliver tickets, just download tickets and save on your phone, show them when you get there, or you can print it out.

Good luck

Absolutely no need to stay near the station as it is close to D1 anyway.

Your hotel in HCMC can book your train tickets for you and have them ready for you when you check in.

The fee they charge for this service will be nominal.

Bridge was repaired months ago.

But you will need to give your hotel your passport numbers as it is govt law when booking train tickets.

Warm regards and travel safe in Vietnam, Dirty Pierre.
