HCM city Outskirts

Hi guys,

Could you please advise , how far is it from HCMC to Dalat?

How much will it cost for us to get to Dalat by train? And where can we get the ticket for the train?

How many days should we stay in Dalat ? Any where near Dalat that we can travel to ?

Thank you.

Overland it's 308 kms from HCMC to Dalat and there is no train. The only ways to get there are by bus (very slow) or plane.

There are lots of things to do in Dalat and the surrounding countryside, so think in terms of a 2-3 day stay.

We arranged for EasyRiders to pick us up from our hotel in HCMC by car. The trip was amazing. We visited the guide's home on the way.

There are different ways you can for this trip.

You can fly into Da Lat and take a private tour by car down the coast to Nha Trang.

From there, you can fly back to Saigon (HCMC) or you can take the train.

Or you can take a bus down to the popular beach destination of Mui Ne, and take the train from there to Saigon.

Obviously, you can reverse the course of your travel.

Another experience from me: take the day bus, better the morning ones. It's quite dangerous to take the night bus as road condition is not so good.

As CreakingBones said, there's no train from HCMC to Da Lat at all. If you go by train to Nha Trang to catch the bus to Da Lat, why don't you take the bus directly from HCMC to Da Lat? (saying that Nha Trang is not part of your trip this time)

As a local you should know that there is no train to Dalat!!!

The day buses are fine and the trip is quite scenic. Personally, I use Sinh tourist and they have never let me down. You can purchase tickets over the net or go to their office in De tham st, district 1 or ask your hotel to arrange it. Very simple.
