Currency Used

We are in HCMC next month. Just wondering, what currency should we use when shopping in Saigon square or Ben Than?

Our hotel, Cu Chi and mekong tours all quoted in US$. Since we will be bringing more US$ I find this easy but how about in the shopping centers?

Also, say we are in CU Chi or Mekong tour already, we want to buy in groceries or some souvenirs. What Currency to use please.

Have a look over to the right of the screen under the heading "Top questions about Ho Chi Minh City" at the fifth entry, "ATM, Dong or USD?" This question has been extensively discussed and you will find a wealth of information at the link, or by using the little search box at the top to find posts on currency, USD and VND.

I like the use of Libya for a currency that everybody has seen and used...

^^__^^

And I hate hotels and TA that keeps using USD in Vietnam just to overcharge tourists...

Why in Thailand everybody use only the baht?
