AST Travel stole my phone and took pictures with it!

I was in Halong Bay doing a cruise with AST Travel.

I will write a better review on their poor services later, but in the meantime I thought I'd share that they stole my iphone from my room in the cruise, and have been using it to take photos!

Guess they don't understand the concept of icloud yet.

unfortunately the hotel Hanoi Guesthouse uses them as their touring company.

otherwise i'd have never booked anything through them....

Anyway I found it funny when the photos started appearing in my account!

I like the thief taking photos, you can send them all to the agency and the hotel selling the cruise... ^^__^^

I was thinking that being in a boat it would be not a good idea to steal stuff...very few people around....

yep, have already sent it to the agency and to the hotel.... I don't know if the agency will do anything though - while I was still in the boat and had the phone taken, I reported it to the tour guide who took offence at my accusations suggesting that the agency would not be held liable for any valuables missing....

anyway, i'll be going back to Hanoi to file a police report now that I have their faces!!

If you are still in Hanoi YESSSS.

Print company name and faces and give them to police.

They will probably get them after laughing for one hour...

I'm just loving this thread! Well, apart from the loss of your phone of course. Boy would I like to be there to see the expression on their faces when they are nabbed.

The Apple iPhone/iPod/iPad tracking service is excellent (it narrows down the device's location to about 8 houses) but I don't know whether it works in Vietnam. Worth going to an official Apple reseller in Hanoi to find out. If you can find an official one of course - there are loads of shops bearing the Apple logo but they have no association with Apple whatsoever and sell Chinese copies.

This sounds like a great opportunity for a traveller flashmob at the AST offices .....

Please do take it seriously by sending the file to police and Vietnam Administration of Tourism. Also send to Halong tourism board.

Vietnam treasures its tourism industry and the authorities WILL track down these thieves and deal with them harshly. Vietnam is very safe for travellers and incidents such as these are rare.
