Please visit website : www.halongfantaseacruise.com or www.catbafantaseahotel.com

They are same company. When you choose Halong - Catba 3days 2 nights , you will stay 1 night on Halong Fantasea Boat, 1 night stay at Catba Fantasea Hotel

This company offers several options which are as follows.

- 1 day tour

- 2 day tour 1 night on the boat

- 3 day tour 1 night on boat, 1 night in hotel

- 3 day tour 2 nights on the boat

We booked the 2 nights on the boat option and although I would not reccomend this option I would reccomend this company.

The standard tour which this company does well, is 3 days with one night on the boat and one night in the hotel which incororates Cat ba Island! Doing two days on the boat was very disorganised as they seemed to have the tour itinerised around 1 night on the boat and 1 night in the hotel. We therefore felt as if we were disturbing the smoothness of everybody elses tour as we had booked something different. This was further enhanced as we were asked to check out of the boat after one night! It turns out we would have checked out carried our luggage around all day then checked back into the same boat!

My advice for this would be to book the two day one night on the boat option. A single day trip is too short for Ha long bay. The 3 day with one night on the boat and one on Cat Ba Island hotel doesn't show you anything more of Ha Long bay than the 1 night on the boat trip. Cat ba Island in all honesty is distinctly average and the beaches were pretty poor. Having visted the hotel I felt it was nothing special and felt it was just an additional income stream as it was a company owned hotel.

The boat was excellent and the cabins were clean, spacious and very comfortable with air con in the evening. The boat staff were superb, very welcoming and very happy to have you on board. Beers were $1.5 for a small can. The food was suprisingly very impressive with a large selection placed on the table. A mixture of meat, veg and seafood with more than enough to go around. The tour guide was ok with a reasonable level of English and the information provided was good! Pretty much everything about the boat was impressive.

The transport to and from Ha Long Bay from Hanoi was nothing short of chaotic. The bus was overly full and as our hotel was the last to be picked up from we ended up literally sitting in the aisles for four hours on our way there. The route back was similar however we were fortunate enough to rush for a good seat.

Being asked to check out when we thought we had two days on the boat was unacceptable for us. We questioned this and were allowed to keep our things in the room however we saw another couple check out with big bags, carry them round all day and then check back in to the same room. Completely stupid.

They offer cycling if you go to Cat Ba island and their national park. We chose to cycle instead of hike. We were told you cannot cycle in the national park but only on the roads. We were given two bikes with bald tires, no breaks and gears that did not work. We got told to cycle down the road and back which was very dangerous with the quality of bikes that appeared from an old womans house.

In summary the best option for value for money, for what they deliver, for things you need to see in Ha long Bay and for enjoyment factor is 2 days and 1 night on the boat. Everything you need will be fulfilled by this. Anything longer is simply dragged out as a money spinner from the tour company!

The Bay is lovely. I agree with the previouse comment although we did not go on the island. Our room smelt like poo on the second night and they give you 330ml of water a day. Otherwise it's 30000 dong for a tiny bottle. Everyone was really thirsty and you can't take water on the boat. The captain 'popye' is aggressive and rude when dealing with money and quite sexist. We had the day on another boat (rather than going to the island) those people were lovely. All in all it's good to see, hide your own water in your bag and go for one night. On the Plus the food is very good and some nice staff.

(Also be carefull when sitting on the top deck there are a lot of loose nails and many peoples pants got ripped)
