Hotel Choice ?

Hello, I am looking at the following hotels in the Old Quarter, at least I believe they are. This would be for 4 nights, arriving September 23 or 24th, 2006. Two twin beds needed in room with the option of putting in another to accomadate a possible third person on the trip. Or a larger room to accept all of us.

1. Golden Lotus Hotel / 32 Pho Hang Trong

2. Church Hotel

3. Viet Anh Hotel

Other ideas appreciated. Looking for something unique, boutique type with character. Must be friendly staff, clean, honest.

Hi Runner,

I haven't stayed in the first 3 hotels, but stayed one night in Hanoi Plaza last week. If you're talking about the one at 26 Hang Non, it's the place.

It opened some time in Dec 05 or Jan 06 (just a few months), so it is very shining new and clean. It's a small hotel, looks like a city house, but I feel comfortable staying there. The staff including the cleaner greeted me every time they saw me.

On one floor you’ll see 4 rooms. The room at the corner is biggest with 2 twin beds. The room near the elevator has one big bed (smaller than King bed).

I’ve been staying in many kinds of rooms, but with the $25 net with breakfast for 2 in Hanoi Plaza, I would say it’s the best in its category. Their wardrobe and computer table in room were not made from the high quality material, but the outstanding feeling when I entered their room was “it was luxurious”. They place a piece of cloth across the bed which is the new style now. However the beds are spring mattress which I don't like much, but the linen and pillows are very new and clean.

Regards,

land

We also stayed at the Hanoi Plaza and found it clean and the staff very friendly. It is in a perfect location. You can either have a balcony and see the old town streets below or get a back room if you perfer quiet. The rooms are 30 and 35... with breakfast and very clean sheets!! A welcom change from many of the very popular guest houses which were about 27... I give it a thumbs up.

Hi welcome1,

My case was a little special when I had a good rate. The hotel I wanted to stay didn't have rooms for me when I came back to Hanoi earlier than planned, so they booked me at Hanoi Plaza.

If I have to pay $35 for that room, I will not feel special. It was a deal I paid only $25 for such a good room.

I found the hanoi plaza hotel to be very helpful. the staff will do anything in there power to help you with tours or other travel plans. The rooms are clean and the location is great. I also found the rooms are larger then most hotels.

On arriving in hanoi we were advised 2 stay at the hanoi plaza hotel in the old quarter, we have now been travelling for 13 month and have stayed at various standards ov hotel and guesthouse *some very bad and some very good* !

I have to say that this hotel is the best we have stayed at, from the great value price wise to the standard of the rooms but mainly due to the freindliness of the staff.

This hotel has a great location and we were able to book various tours and walk to and from the cities attractions.

Thankyou paul and ian.
