Panicking groom in an need of honeymoon advice please!

Hi I'm starting to flap a bit and would appreciate some help from TA regulars to Vietnam,

I have left it late organising my honeymoon (I have non changeable flights to BKK and hotel booked in Samui for first week and planning to be in Vietnam in around 8th Sept).

I had originally planned (and I use the word lightly) to try to fit in Hanoi, Hoi An and HCMC however following research on TA I concede that this is too much to do in 9 days in Vietnam . Also the weather is apparently poor for most of the centre and south during this time.

I am now left with a two weeks in Vietnam to make the most special honeymoon possible for my future wife and I.

As the north looks likely to be my best bet and am thinking of staying in the Sofitel in Hanoi for a few nights (just to add to the pressure hotels in Hanoi are apparently likely to sell out) so time is of the essence!

Is Hanoi and area a my best bet and a good starting point?

Are there any other places in the north with luxury honeymoon type accommodation?

Ha Long Bay looks fabulous however is it practical in September or are there likely to be storms? The thought of 2 nights on a boat in a tropical storm does not sound like an ideal honeymoon or a safe place to be!

Do you have any suggestions (other than a time machine) for honeymoon destinations please?

Many thanks

Mike

Thanks Darlek2

If you think Hoi An might be practical in the time available I might give that a go, and just skip HCMC this trip.

With regard to Ha Long is it likely that it will be rough at that time I have seen a forum comment that there has been loss of tourist life during storms although I understand that there an element of risk in everything no point in unnecessary ones.

Thanks again.

While you're in Hanoi for your honeymoon, take her to Bobby Chinn -- great restaurant at 1 Ba Trieu -- cannot beat the atmosphere or the food. Pricey, but if Bobby's in town, he'll entertain you personally. If you call earlier in the day, they'll do something special for you.
