Top 3 destinations in Vietnam based on...

Hi all.

I am in the early stages of planning a trip to Thailand and Vietnam. I am interested in history, culture, sightseeing. I am NOT interested in beaches and nightlife. I am NOT very interested in nature-related activities.

Based on my interests, what would be the 3 destinations in Vietnam that you would recommend for me to visit? I am totally fine if I have to go somewhere for a day trip just to see something particularly interesting.

Thank you

Hello,

For historical places in Vietnam, In the North, you can visit Hanoi, ancient town.

in the central, Hue city- the first capital of Vietnam

in the South, Cu chi tunnels- an underground village- all information about Vietnam war.

Thank you to both of you. I did some research now and looks like Hanoi, Hue and HoiAn will be great for me.

As others have suggested, Hanoi, Hue and Hoi An.

If you are interested in the Vietnam War then you should also spend some time in Saigon and visit the War Remnants Museum, Reunification Palace and Cu Chi Tunnels.

Ninh Binh is also deep in culture, history, and sight, being the first capital of Vietnam (under a king known in recorded history). A number of pagodas, temples, and shrines remained fairly intact considering the time (from 968 to before the turn of the millennium. )

Cheers,

John
