Just got back from a wonderful 2 1/2 weeks in Vietnam, which included 2 days with Jason. We made a critical error by not showing up for one of our flights, which resulted in all of our flights being cancelled. Our mistake was not calling Jason to help us change our plans. We ended up taking a ferry instead of a boat, and had to change the rest of our itinerary, but Jason made sure that everything was handled properly. He met us in Rach Gia, at the ferry terminal and we drove in his air conditioned car to Can Tho to spend the night. The restaurant we stopped served the best barbequed pork and noodles that we had on the whole trip. The hotel he chose for us was perfect. The next day we went to the floating market in the morning, where we cruised around on the roof of the boat, which gave us a wonderful view of all the boats. On the way back from the floating market, we went into a very poor village and met all the kids. It was a fantastic experience. We crossed the river in the village on a monkey bridge - which you had to see to believe! We then headed to the Chi Chu tunnels and had a great, personal tour. It was so hot that day, and I was so glad we were in our own little group, as apposed to a large one. We did our own thing, at our own pace. We then drove back to our hotel in HCMC and said our goodbyes. 2 hours later, the front desk called to say that Jason had dropped off a cd for us. He had been taking pictures and movies the whole time we were together, which was so great.
Overall, I would say that Jason went beyond the call of duty to take care of us. All the extras: fresh fruit in the car, information and videos, drinks, great restaurants and hotels, one on one service, his adorable wife, his connections, the cd, and his great personality made our two days with him really special. There were no glitches, even though we threw a lot of stuff at him. It is so reassuring when traveling in a different country to have someone there to meet you, translate for you, and take all the pressures off. His new motto is "Everything is Possible", and believe me, it's true.
