Advice on where to stay

Hey there

We are staying in Ko Samui in December this year for about 6 days. Don't really know too much about the place, but we are looking for a place to stay, chill and wind down from London life on our way to Australia.

If we were to give criteria, it would be a little bit botique (not too big), 4-5 star, authentic with great beaches.......

Don't really want to party till dawn every night, but don't really want kids running around messing with that beach zen thing we'll have happening

Anyone got any reccomendations?

The quiet beach of Bophut 15 minutes drive from the night life of Chaweng may be your thing .It is has the Fishermans Village full of restaurants at one end of the beach with the resorts spread out at the other.

We stayed at Bandara which is between two other 5 star resorts Anantara and Bo Phut Resort .We were lucky to have the added luxury of a Pool villa which is very nice for romantic couples. The normal rooms are fine as well. The place is just over a year old and is very nice .Three good sized pools lovely grounds ,picture perfect beach but water not crystal clear (Very few children ).Look at the candid photos .10 minutes to airport and 10 minutes to Big Buddha.Take care when choosing at that time of year there will be lots of people on holiday and you may find your smaller Botique pool crowded.

We stayed at a hotel called the Kandaburi.......AMAZING!

I think it was about $200 (au) a night ,this was for a deluxe double room which was massive, really stylish and wonderful buffet breakfast was included.

Couldn't fault the place...it's only six months old and was listed at number 9 on this site recently.

It really is worth checking out.

Good luck with your search!

my partner and i are just back from a wonderful 2 weeks in ko samui.we also stayed at the Kanda buri hotel.we cannot recommend it enough.our room was huge and very comfortable.the staff were very friendly and made us very welcome.the beach is lovely too.the water is cleaner(less algae) than the water on the side that the Amari Palmreef is on,which is further down the beach.we got a deal with our travel and it worked out about $120 a night. We will definity be back.

We stayed at the Samui Palm Beach Resort on Bophut Beach in March this year and I am about to book again for next year. . it is amazing!! Beautiful hotel with really nice gardens, nice food, lovely staff, 2 pools... the beach is lovely - everything you could wish for.

Check out their website.

No kids around when we were there, lots of nice restaraunts and quiet bars 10 minutes walk away in Fishermans Village and lively Chaweng 15mins away in a taxi.

The hotel is in the perfect position for getting the best of everything.

Just got back from the Bophut Resort and Spa...if you want a boutique hotel this is the place to go. Forget the Bandara, which in my opinion seemed a big hotel, and book at the Bophut. Though when we were there it was fully booked so you better get booking soon
