Choeng Mon

We have been to Koh Samui previously but never explored the Choeng Mon area. Can any one please help with the following?

What would you expect to pay for a Songthew or a taxi from Bangrak to Choeng Mon?

What landmark/Hotel is the most central/best drop off point to get off?

Any Hotel recommendations with a budget of up to approx £50 (2700 approx)?

Many Thanks.

Carole.

Hi

Bangrak to cheongmon would take approximately 10mins by car. By taxi should be 250 baht or more. Sharing songhteaw should start from 70 baht.

Ask to be drop off at either Samui honey cottage or imperial boat house. With your budget have a look at White House, Samui honey cottage, kirati house and cheongmon bungalow. Just keep in mind high season you will expecting to pay more.

For your budget, White House and Honeys stand out as the best choices. White House excels for the size of rooms and IMHO location, Honeys for bar and pool. Both still have excellent locations, beachside, but Honeys is not situated on the main road. You can check them both out on www.sawadee.com.

For landmark, I would suggest the yellow bank (can't remember its name, think it starts AY something) on the left hand side which is at the start of Choeng Mon. After passing it wait 10 seconds and ring the sontheaw bell. That'll be about the centre of Choeng Mon. If Pea reads this I'm sure she'll know the name of the bank.

Choeng Mon is so small, that if you're dropped off anywhere on the main street you'll be fine. Anywhere around akhbar onwards is pretty much the main street in Choeng Mon. You won't see the beach from the main street though. Walk past akhbar and you'll come to sandy dirt track with apartment on the left. That's the track that takes you to the beach.
