Koh Samui, Chaweng Beach + nearby

Hi all. Heading to Koh Samui in July. Ive heard Chaweng Beach is the place to be in terms of bars and restaurants however should I stay there too? We're looking for somewhere a bit more relaxed for a hotel, can anyone recommend any nearby beaches that are a bit more relaxed but still close enough to Chaweng so it doesnt warrant an expensive taxi trip.

You could try Choeng Mon, which is 10 minutes away. Don't need to use taxis, you can hop in the Songthews as they're cheaper. Chaweng Noi is also supposed to be a quieter area but not that far from Chaweng.

South Chaweng has always been quieter than Central Chaweng but there have been reviews recently for Poppies and Buri Rasa (both South Chaweng) commenting on the noise from a local bar and its techno music. I suppose it depends how quiet you want your resort? If very, then try Choeng Mon or Chaweng Noi, if you're not bothered by street, firework or bar noise, then South or North Chaweng.

We always stay in South chaweng and really like it there, it's quieter than Central Chaweng but it's only a 20 minute walk away and the beach is lovely.

Another thumbs up for the southern part of Chaweng.
