Weather and Timing of Visit?

Hello. I am planning my very first trip to Thailand and was thinking of going in late Decemeber, basically the last 2 weeks of December 2006.

Is this a bad time to go in terms of pricing? What is the weather like? I assume its the dry season?

I am interested in visiting Bangkok and either Phuket or Phi Phi Islands..

Thanks in advance!

Phuket/PhiPhi side great weather in December, be wary Koh Samui - it's still the rainy season at that time.

I went to Samui in early December a few years back, (didn't do my wather research properly) and wound up sheltering in my bungalow the entire week from the Monsoon rains! However, made the decision to travel to the other coast (Phuket side) and had a beautiful, sun-drenched, dry week on Koh Lanta..yay!

I think it is the high season in terms of pricing though, although, considering the Tsunami is still a vivid memory, and you will prob be there for the 2nd anniversary, you might find the place not too crowded and probably some discounts going on...
