Dining reservations necessary?

Hi

We will be staying @ the Sala Samui early in April (6-14) Being a NYCer - I am used to making reservations for everything always! Will this be necessary for dinner on Samui? We are celebrating our anniversary so we will probably go to a few "swish" places. we were in Bali over the summer and found we did not need reservations for anything!

Also how far is the Big Buddha from our hotel?

Thanks!

Hi, no you DONT need reservations on Samui. Plenty of places to go. Big Budda is 5 min by bike.

Big Buddha is 10 mins from your (lovely) hotel. Check out the temple just before it with funky (yes I do mean funky) Chinese Buddha and amazing colourful interiors.

You do not NEED reservations for most places on Samui HOWEVER if you want a beachfront / water side or best table then please book AND ASK FOR A GOOD TABLE - it is no hassle. We wanted to go to Dining on the Rocks near the full moon and could only get an inside table last minute (didn't go - not the same) and unless we book a day in advance at Zazen are commonly second row - it is just not the same. You are used to making reservations so to get the best make the tiny effort - and enjoy there is some fabulous food on Samui.

Oh and in Sala Samui you should book for a special night too - you will quickly establish your preferred table - so simple and so much extra pleasure.
