Where else to go?

Hi all,

We are off to Thailand for the second visit in end June/early July.

I have booked the plane tickets and accommodation in Bangkok (7 nights).

As we went to Phuket last time, we are thinking of going elsewhere for the first 5 nights of our trip. We were thinking of flying out of Bangkok shortly after we land - I'll need to find a flight out of Suvanabhumi (sp?) airport.

SOOOO...

I suppose the question I have for you seasoned, intrepid travellers is...

Where would you suggest that myself, my wife and daughter of 16 go for a few nights? And why?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,

You might consider the island of Ko Tao. It is the most un-spoilt island in the Siam Gulf archipelago (the most famous being Ko Samui).

You would take a flight to Ko Samui (check out www.bangkokair.com). If you go in the morning you will be in time to catch the fast boat to Ko Tao (check out www.lomprayah.com for schedules).

This islad DOES NOT have murky waters and snorkeling and diving are really top knotch. There are plenty resorts for all budgets and if you like natural environments this is really a great place to stay.

The focus of Ko Tao is not on mass tourism as in Phuket. You will not find loads of gogo bars and the people who go there are mainly divers, swimmers and those who, more in general, seek a nice place at the sea.

I hope this helps...

Hello Chris

As your going in June/July then I suggest that the Gulf side is the place. As the previous poster said perhaps Koh Tao also Koh Phangan,Koh Chang.

If you didn`t mind Phuket then Samui might suit you.Samui probably hasn`t yet reached Phuket as far as commercialism etc but they aren`t that far apart these days.

As your only going 5 days then Samui might be best as it will be a direct flight meaning you won`t waste any time at all waiting to transfer elsewhere.
