Santburi vs. Bophut Resort?

I know they are both owned by the same company, but I was wondering which people who know about the hotels would recommend.

About us: We are in our 20's and are going to be on our Honeymoon, want to be some place that is a little but more secluded and romantic, but still has a lot of stuff to do at the hotel (ie, nice pool, good variety of restaurants, gym). Good service is always a good thing as well!

We would be getting the Garden Villa at the Santburi (which is one their middle priced rooms) or for the same price can get the Pool Villa at the Bophut (which is their nicest room).

Any advice would be great!

We just got back from our Honeymoon at the Santiburi 2 weeks ago.

I have to say the hotel was fantastic and exceeded our expectations.

We're in our 20's also and stayed in a garden villa.

The Santiburi is very quiet and secluded, perfect for a honeymoon. The gardens are amazing and there are lots of things to do. The pool is massive, there's watersports to do on the beach, tennis courts, squash, golf etc. They also run a daily programme of organised activities like the sunset cruise on the hotels boat.

The beach is reallty picture postcard with sunbeds and hammocks set amongst the palm trees.

The restaurants are also great with fantastic food. There's a thai restaurant in the main hotel building and probably best of all a restaurant right on the beach which is all candlelit and accoustic guitarist. This really took our breath away on the first night. Food and drinks are not expensive either for a 5 star hotel.

The garden villa rooms are lovely. It looks like they're in the process of updating so of them, so could be worth asking for one of the refurbished rooms.

Undoubtedly the best thing about the santiburi is the staff. We've never stayed 5 star before, but the staff really are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It's all the little things that make the difference and you certainly experience that here. For instance on arrival champagne in the room, a cake with a personal message and rose petals laid out on the bed welcoming us. The hotel really does seem to have thought of everything to make your stay perfect.

There isn't that much to do in the main resort of Maenam. Plenty of shops, but not many nice resaturants/bars that we could see. It is only a 5 minute drive to Bophut or 10 mins to Chaweng where there's plenty going on. The hotel will take you and pick you up by limo for pretty much the same price of a taxi.

It's really difficult to sum up the Santiburi in words, other than the Santiburi was perfect for a truly amazing honeymoon.
