Opinions - Rachamankha/Rimping Village/The RIm Resort

Looking at booking relatively soon for 8 days in Chiang Mai.

I think we have narrowed it down to these three resorts - but I would love some help as I am having a hard time working out what is actually near by.

We would like:

- Easy access to Night Markets/Walking Streets

- A variety of restaurants easy to access

- Reliable/safe transport whether it be tuk tuk or riding bicycles

- Massages and shopping nearby

We like boutique style accomodation and I think these all suit - any help anyone can offer would be most welcome!

The truth is these are all excellent choices and you won't go wrong with any of them.

It was just when I saw your budget was higher I thought it was worth mentioning another few options.

Don't want to confuse the issue....

Enjoy your map.

Hi PugHugger (lovely pugs),

Have you tried Flickr for pictures of Chiang Mai? There are umpteen photos of all aspects of the city if you type 'Chiang Mai' into the search window. You will get a page of thumbnails and can then choose some to enlarge. Although these are mine, and therefore a bit boasty, here is a link to a set of northern Thailand pics, many of which are from Ch Mai: http://www.flickr.com/photos/91339079@N00/sets/72157632956393729/. I never tire of looking at them!

Rimping Village is very popular and a beautiful place to stay. It isn't far from either the night bazaar or the old city.

What time of the year are you going.... I just did a quick random search on Rimping Village using dates at the end of October and it is coming it at $79A a night for a superior room with breakfast - over $200 cheaper than the price you have. This is on agoda.com

Do double check your price before you book.

It's hard to know. Agoda.com is showing the price you mentioned for that period at the moment. A bit over $90A a night.

It's a long way ahead to book.

Sawadee.com don't even have prices up for that period yet.

Yes I will freely admit I am a bit early in the planning stage, but I like to keep an eye out and then book when I find something worth booking :)

Its the control freak in me - what can I say!

ha ha - you might save $20 a night if you wait - but if you feel better about it, why not go ahead.

Check the terms of cancellation just in case.
