Damnoen Saduak Floating market

Hi - we are going to be in Bangkok from Feb 8 for a few days. Could anyone advice if there are direct aircon buses that we could take to the floating mkt? There are 2 of us and we are not keen on joining tour and brought round to gems factory etc as part of 'tour" . Booking a private car/guide seems a bit costly - guess will cost at least 2,000 Baht or more. Appreciate advice on how to make the trip. We will be staying at Holiday Inn Bangkok near Chitlom station. Also, which is a better day to go - Fri morning or Sat ? Many thanks.

Its quite a way by public transport. We hired a private car, not too expensive and easily the best way as it gets really busy when tour groups arrive. You need to go very early too (hence difficulty with pt) Also need around 400 Baht for boat hire in market itself although you can just walk around outside and watch. Not the same though.

There is a public air-cond bus from Bangkok to Damnoen Sadualk Floating Market. The bus station is located in the Thonburi district. It is a southern route bus station. You should take a taxi to get there. It is quite far from your hotel and should be there early too. I think there is a bus leave every hour. The journey would take around 2 hours. When you get to the floating market, try to walk around to check the price from many piers otherwise you will be draged to the expensive boat ride ticket if you grab one after you get out of the bus. There are many piers to offer the boat ride.

All the best
