Best Hostel in Bangkok?

I know this is a very broad topic and there are tons and tons of hostels in Bangkok…but can anyone recommend a good hostel in Bangkok? We will be staying in Bangkok for three nights and are looking to stay right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. We are hoping to be as close to city centre as possible, and want to be able to walk to many attractions/bars/restaurants. We would prefer to not use any mode of transportation besides our feet :)

Thank you!

Lub D Silom is very good, my son and his friends stayed three nights on the way back from Australia and enjoyed this hostel and the area. Your not too far away from Silom Rd, the hustle/bustle night markets, Patpong etc, and there's two BTS in Sala Daeng and Chong Nonsi not far away. Some decent restaurants on Surowong Rd as well.

Hi, look up Lamphu Tree House, walking distance to many attractions: the Grand Palace, Wat Pho , Wat Bowonnoniwet, Wat Saket, Wat Suthat, Wat Arun (by pier) and walking distance to many bars, resto and clubs in Kaosan Road area, but far from red lights districts as Pat Pong, Nana Plaza, soi Cowboy

Lub D is not too bad. Two locations. The Skytrain is cheap and can save hours of walking for pennies! Also meter taxis are cheap when you use the meter only. Bangkok is a huge city. You can't walk everywhere. (Keep up with latest protest locations!)

Suk 11 Hostel is in the Nana area. Walk to malls, street vendors, restaurants, nightlife and use the Skytrain. Use cheap buses and Skytrain and even cheap meter taxis to get you near to particular places popular with tourists. This area is good for your evenings and other off time when you want to relax.

In Thailand small, no-star hotels and guest houses are not much different in cost than hostels. Once you leave Bangkok not a lot of hostels available.

Up to you.
