Hotels in Sukhumvit

We are a group of friends in our 20's travelling to Bangkok in Dec/Jan. We are looking for a nice hotels in a great area in terms of food, night life, sight seeing, shopping etc. Apparently the area to be is Sukhumvit. Can anyone advise me on great hotels in this area close to everything, around 1600THB/50$ and includes breakfast.

For your price range I would recommend The Swiss Park Hotel, which has a small pool, great location and good breakfast.

Is your budget pr person or pr room, and will you and your friends stay alone or share rooms? This will make a huge difference as room rates usually are pr room for 2 persons. Breakfast is also for 2 persons when it is included in the room rate. If the room is big enough, you can also have an extra bed with breakfast at a much lower rate for a third person.

How many are there in your group, it may be a cheaper option to rent an appartment or even a 2 bedroom suite at a hotel than all renting individual rooms.

I would check out the Asiatravel and Sawadee websites to see what's available for your budget.

this is high season (peak, actually) and so you will definitely want to book in advance. a lot of sites like sawadee are not yet showing prices for these dates, so keep an eye on things. Also, don't forget to email the hotels you like directly, as sometimes (but not always!) they will give you a lower price than on their website.

My experience, though, has been that booking through a site like quickrooms or sawadee is most often cheaper than a direct booking with the hotel.

As others have mentioned, you might want to consider a serviced apartment- how many people are in your group?

How many people per room? Everybody in the same room?

Swiss Park is okay. Grand business Inn is nearby. But in either place don't plan on more than one extra person in each room without paying more. One, two or even three kids and a husband and wife a hotel may try to squeeze you in for a small price. Not necessarily so with a big group of adults.

Breakfast at Foodland Supermarket on Soi 5 (Took Lae Dee Restaurant) about 57 baht before 9 a.m.

President Palace in Soi 11 or BelAire in Soi 5. Both hotels are surrounded by fabulous food and nightclubs.
