bangkok with kids

am spending a week in bangkok end of april and unsure what type of accomodation to get that would be suitable and in a safe area. Would Talinchan or sukhumvit rd be good. Am travelling on my own with a 15year old and 6 year old. Would like to go to wat po temple and floating market and just to see Khosan rd but not to stay around there. Have been looking at a few b&bs but anything I like very expencive.. any advise greatly appreciated. they have been roughing it abit so would like to treat them to some place nice. thanks

Talingchan is too far out from the center. Sukhumvit is fine as is Silom, and you should be close to a BTS station for ease of getting around. Here are a few places with reasonable rates but I have no idea what your budget is.

Baan Saladaeng, 69/2 Saladaeng Soi 3, near Saladaeng BTS & Silom MRT

Padimadi Guesthouse, 2/7 Sukhumvit Soi 53, near Thonglo BTS

All Seasons, 97 Rajprarop Road, near Victory Monument BTS and Rajprarop airport City Line stations.

Silom Serene, Soi Pipat, Silom Road, between Saladaeng BTS and Chongnonsi BTS

Citin Pratunam, 88/19 Ratchaprarop Road between Phayathai & Rachatwai BTS

Ibis Riverside, opposite Saphan Taksin BTS, 27 Soi Charoenakhon 17

Almost all hotels will allow three in one room on payment of a daily fee for an extra bed. If you want two rooms, a serviced apartment might be the way to go; places like Abloom or Bally's might suit you.

We've booked to go with our kids in June, after much research have decided to stay at the Bhiman Inn as we wanted to be close to most of the sights, Grand Palace, River etc. The Bhiman has a pool, which is a must for our kids. We have booked a double room with an extra bed and it includes breakfast. Although Khao San Road is not far away, it's far enough not be disturbed by the noise etc.

Thanks, bbtony. We'll research these suggest you gave. My family is also travelling to Bangkok in May. No hotel yet, but we hope to get one near a BTS station as we will be 4 adults and 3 kids below 12. We may not all fit into a taxi so we plan to use the trains. Is there a "best" BTS station to search around in?
