MBK Center's 6th floor food court offers plenty of cheap Thai food.

The three Siam malls opposite the Novotel have dozens of eateries of all types. Siam Square has a good number of places to eat. If its busy at meal time, it should be good. Finding good Thai food is easy :)

This website has some good info on Thai food and places to eat:

Define early.

Just walk around the Siam Square area, you will find lots of rstaurants that will be open. The old mom/pop style restaurants are all over the place

There is a bus stop at the MBK end of Siam Square. There are many vendors selling all sorts of snacks to the students and workers hopping on and off the buses.
