Frequent traveler hotel advice

I will be staying in Bangkok for 3 nights in March and need some hotel advice. It is between the Conrad and the Intercontinental. While I can see that the Conrad is rated higher than the IC, I am curious about a couple more details.

I am a Diamond with Hilton, and a Royal Ambassador with IC. Does anyone have any information about Which will offer better 'upgrades' if a base room is purchased/point certificate?

Thank you for any help.

Sorry I cannot compare the two programs. But, I can tell you that the IC is undergoing renovations at the moment (the fliers in our room said it will go on all year) - I believe that this closes down large areas of the hotel (maybe as much as 20% at a time) and I think that this may affect your ability to get an upgrade - as there will be fewer rooms to upgrade to.
