In the Shangri-la wing, the Horizon Club Premier rooms, at 68 m2 and Horizon Club benefits are great. Executive Suites are about the same size, 70 m2, and are also great.

Krungthep Wing rooms have the benefits of private lounge benefits and smaller more private pool. I like the Deluxe Suites at 84 m2 and they have a big balcony too. The Deluxe rooms are average size, at 44 m2...the Suites might be better value. I prefer this wing as it isn't usually so tour groupy like the Sha-La wing is, though Horizon Club in the Sha-La wing is a close second.

Sometimes they upgrade guests who stay for a short time because of overbooking or they are repeat guests...but it's not the norm, so don't expect it. They may offer a paid upgrade, in which case you should ask to see the rooms in question first. It never hurts to ask politely about upgrade availability, but don't be suprised if it's only offered for a price.

If you have a strong preference about which room you want you can request it, but booking a deluxe room and indicatiing you want an exec suite is seldom successful (except for maybe amusing staff assigning rooms each day). If you have a strong preference as to room type, book it and don't count on upgrade. The She-la website has very thorough room descriptions and photos and should be helpful to you in deciding. They also have lots of rate plans which are pretty good value. The Suite Moments package is a great value.
