Staying at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel

Have watched the different posts about Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel.

Most talk about the rooms in the Tower and the cocktails etc .

We are booking through Thai and and they are offering us a Deluxe room.

What I need is someone that has actually stayed in a Deluxe room and not in the Tower.

Also what is the Buffet breakfast like you get with the Deluxe room?

Many thanks

hi there, we have stayed in a deluxe room they are fine and all have great river view rooms. we also stayed in a exective river view room, in the towers, the towers are just on higher floors so the view is better i guess, and a little less noisy from the river. its a great hotel dont let some obviously very demading reviers put you off, its location and service in my experience is excellant.and is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.

If i were you and I did, i emailed the hotel and explained to them it was our anniversary and we wanted to make it a very special celebration and after reading less than favourable reviews or the deluxe bl ah blah blah, in thew end we got free upgrade to the towers rooms no problem. I emailed the reservation desk and initially after getting no joy from them i asked them to forward to emails to the general manager and they wrotew back saying no problem. Its deff worth a try, we got the towers rooms without the benefits, but to be honest the benefits are not all that, just a nicer decoarted room, and the buffet breakfast downstairs is excellant and better than the continental one you get in the towers lounge. but go for it, you got nothing to loose. If you want any other advice feel free to ask and you could email me if you wanted. we have been three times and are going back in april for more. below is the email add for the reservations at the ros:

res172royalorchid@sheraton.com

you will have a great time im more

Rosie:

We stayed in a Deluxe room.for two nights in October 2006. As the previous poster said, the room has a great view of the river. It was very comfortable and had ready access to the river ferries which can get you to the Grand Palace area.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, with American, Asian and European selections with plenty of fresh fruits and pastries. As a special bonus you get great views of the river. If you can get an upgrade, that much better but the deluxe room will not dissapoint. We would stay there again if we ever return. Have a nice trip!

My thanks to Patch 12 for your great comments on the Royal Orchid Sheraton. For the last 6 years we have stayed at Pathumwan Princess and the rooms have become very tired still look the same every year. Bathrooms are very tired.

So it is always a concern when you decide to change hotels but you have made me think we have made the right choice.

Blue Phantom my thanks for your reply about Royal Orchid Sheraton It looks like the place to be.

HarleyB I hope you have enjoyed the comments from the above and in May you have a great joliday at Royal Orchid Sheraton.

We will be in Thailand from June but not at the Royal Orchid until September on our way back to Australia

We have just come back from staying at the ROS (6th stay). We are always in the Towers, because the complimentary breakfast in the Towers lounge, cocktails and snacks in the afternoon and free laundry service make it a good deal.(Free internet access is no longer an issue).

However, if you have breakfast included with your Deluxe room you're better off not paying the extra charge. The Towers rooms are no better and ALL rooms have river views.

Other than it's riverside position what attracts us to the ROS is it's garden pool which gives the place a resort-like feel in the big city.

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks everyone for all those helpful comments. It's great to hear from lots of people who have enjoyed the hotel you have booked.

Lovetrav I was really glad to hear your comment about the Tower vs Deluxe. We have a full breakfast included with the Deluxe room and so it was going to be $50 a day extra for some laundry and cocktails.

I really can't see the value in that - they would want to be pretty good cocktails!!LOL!!

Hey Rosie that is going to be some trip if you leave in June and don't come back till September. Are you spending the whole time in Thailand?

Thanks again HarleyB

Rosie,

We have stayed in both the ROS and the Path Princess. The ROS is a better hotel, although the delux rooms are a little tired, especially the bathrooms but better than the PP. The breakfasts are fabulous! The only comment I would make is - if you are used to the close proximity of the PP to all shopping, MBK etc, you might find the ROS a little more difficult to manouver from. You have to catch the suttle boat to the BTS Sky train. I suppose its not that difficult and you probably know your way around - but comming back with bags of 'goodies' gets a bit tiresome after a few days. You might find your self saying 'Why didn't we stay somewhere closer?"
