In Thailand from 25/10/13-16/11/13 don't know where to go

Hi there. My wife and I are in Thailand 25/10/13-16/11/13 for our first year wedding anniversary ( which is on the 3/11/13 if that helps).

We are flying in and out of Bangkok or in to Bangkok and leave from Phuket.

Can anyone please do up a travel itinery for good destinations to go? We would like something romantic for the anniversary date. We want to see a ping pong show at some stage, were not really into clubbing or anything but prob 1 big night out somewhere fun would be good, a golf day would be good (not 100% necessary tho), casino day (also not 100% necessary either), also I heard that staying a few nights on the river quay (hope I spelt it right) is pretty good, and a bit of looking around Islands.

We are more interested in beachy areas rather then mountain areas, also we like to be in the middle of everything (for example we spend a lot of time in Bali and we stay on poppies 1 in kuta and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else).... With saying that I'll totally contradict myself by saying a bit of a getaway on a resort would be nice for a few cocktails/beers and a good book.

Thanks in advance and I hope I covered everything.

Actually 1 thing I missed is the budget. We have a budget of a couple thousand Australian for everything not including flights.

I would suggest 4 days Bangkok maybe then Phuket (Patong Beach if you like to be in the middle of everything with a few days on Koh Lanta for your quieter chill out time.

I would urge you not to go looking for a ping pong show as the places that do this are often clip joints where you will be ripped off at best and/or subjected to physical abuse. The 'ping pong show' is a very degrading and not at all entertaining experience.

Plenty of good golf to be had in and around Phuket below link will give you an idea of courses although I should shop around for prices

Thanks for your advice. Much appreciated. I understand what you mean by not much fun and degrading however it's one of those things that we want to see it at least once, pretty much just to say we did it. One thing I did forget to mention is I heard the lady boy shows are pretty good too so maybe see one of those too

When in Bangkok go to Pat Pong one evening. There's a night market in that area, plenty of places to eat and it's also a go-go area so you'll find somewhere that does a ping pong show. Be wary of the touts that want you to go with them in a tuk tuk / taxi to a show... they may be on the level but they may also be a scam!

I'd say you want to stay in Patong too. Take a look at this map of Phuket: http://goo.gl/maps/LPy7r

You could do an organised tour of the island or a DIY version. This would include Bug Buddha and Wat Chalong; a stop in Phuket Town particularly the area round Thalang Road - whilst there the The Natural Restaurant is a popular choice. Perhaps a quick free "tour" of a Cashew factor - actually more like a 15 mins marketing gimmick but if you like cashes it's worth it. Then catch the sunset from a viewpoint.

In the early evening a round of golf at Dino Park Mini Golf in Karon is good fun, and later at night Cocktails & Dreams in Patong is a must!

There are no casinos in Thailand. Gambling is illegal.

Bangkok and Phuket both have Ladyboy Cabarets which are actually pretty good and professionally done. The best one in Bangkok has moved to Asiatique, the Riverfront.

A more popular nitelife venue in Bangkok is over on Sukhumvit Road called Soi Cowboy. There are some good shows, popular with tourists, and safe. It's next to ASOKE BTS station at Soi 21. Another adult venue that's better than Pat Pong and safe in NANA Entertainment Plaza on Sukhumvit Soi 4. Lots of gogos and and some have some really good shows. The best of these are Angelwitch gogo.

Based on your preferences, I'd recommend a hotel along Sukhumvit Road near a BTS station. There are many in your budget. Checkout sites like the following to find hotels. They are popular, safe to use for credit card, have reviews and pictures, maps, and best prices.

4 Days in Bangkok will disappear before you know it may be 7 days may give more chance to look around. Bangkok is a huge city it's a maze and you will be constantly bumping shoulders and the traffic congestion is 24/7 but don't let that put you of. Bangkok is an amazing city. Depending on where you'r staying the sky train is the best way to get around the city.

Lots to do, Big buddha, floating markets, malls, rooftop restaurants, and pingpong shows you will find Soi Cowboy or Nana, both are of Sukhumvit Rd and you can there by using the sky train. Don't except any deals or promises for cheap ping show from someone approaches you on the street . You want find ladyboy shows in Bangkok you will have to go to Pattaya for that which is about 140k out of Bangkok. Not to sure if Pukhet has shows.

Go and see a movie as well thai people take there movie experience seriously. 4D movie theatre in the in Siam Paragon mall, or the vip theatres. If you turn up early enough before the movie you can get a foot massage in the vip room.

MBK mall is impressive 9 floors of 50% real and 50% fake merchandise, you will be surprised and battering is must they encourage it.

The list can go on do a bit of research before you go it will help a lot if have plan of attack.

Phuket is beautiful lots of Island to see good way to relax after Bangkok Ko Lanta will be nice to chill but remember Thailand's peak time is kicking in so there will many tourist in Puhket prices may reflect that as well.

Couple of thousand dollars Australian 2 or 3000 will give around 59 thousand to 90 thousand Baht. Have you payed for accommodation that will also reflect on you budget. You can live like a king if you really wanted and why not your on holiday celebrating. Just watch you'r spending you can get carried away if you not careful.

Thailand is the land of smiles Happy and sociable people.

Hello in thai... Sawat de khrap for male Sawt de Kha for female. If your the male make sure you say Khrap because if you say Kah they will think your a LADYBOY.

Goodbye Lar korn.

You don't need to go to Pattaya for the ladyboy shows (although there are several in Pattaya), for example Calypso Cabaret is in Bangkok and I'm told it's very good.

p.s. Yes Phuket also has shows. Simon Cabaret is the biggest. Moulin Rose on Soi Bangla at the end of Soi Crocodile is open until at least end of Oct. And Cocktails & Dreams is a cabaret bar (as opposed to a full cabaret) - free entry, normal drink prices and relaxed atmosphere make it one of my fave hangouts.

First of all I would like to thank everyone who has taken their time to help me with this.

I have spent a lot of time in Bali so I know about not following people on the street as they normally take you to back ally ways where they are more aggressive in pushing what they want to sell.

By the sounds of it 7 days in Bangkok is a good time and staying somewhere on sukhumvit rd near bts station seeing all the recommendations like pat pong night market, floating market, 4d cinema, soi cowboy and gogo shows etc etc (please keep the recommendations coming in )

One thing I would like to find out more about is the river kuay, is it a Bangkok thing or somewhere else in the country? If it is a Bangkok thing is in worth staying on sukhumvit rd for 4-5 days and river kuay for 2-3 days or do it completely separately?

Bit confused about Phuket... When Shane S says Phuket town is he referring to Phuket itself or like a china town sort of thing in Bangkok? Also is ko lanta and patong beach kind of like suburbs of Phuket or are just places close to Phuket?

Also any suggestions on the 3rd nov for our anaversary somewhere nice maybe a 3 rd destination at a nice resort with a good beach somewhere quiet for a few day, preferably near some good restaurants (eating all the time at hotels and resorts can get pretty costly)

Well that's about all I can think of at the moment, thanks again please keep the recommendations and advice coming in.

Also if you haven't already then subscribe to this thread so if you need more info to make appropriate recommendations then it will be easier for you to see my response.

Thanks again

Hi

Phuket is the name of island and the whole of island is the province. Patong is the name of the beach/area. Phuket town is the main administrative town with business and the like. No where near the beach but day trip to have a look around always good which many surpass that.

Koh /Ko - in Thai mean island. Koh Lanta is in Krabi province but you can get access by ferry from Phuket.

Riber Kwai is in kanchanburi province sour of Bangkok by car would take approximately 2-3 hours. You can do a day trip combines of floating market, railways market, WWII museum, the bridge, Hell fires, the POW cemetery. Or you can do over night staying on the river house or resort along the river. You can find the tour guides under FAQs on the right hand side under " finding tour guides". If day trip you will be pick up by 7 am and back to Bangkok by 6-7pm.

Hope this help
