Flight delays

Due to fly at end of March from Glasgow to Bangkok (Emirates - via Dubai). I have been checking Glasgow Airport website and see that there are frequent delays on flight from Glasgow to Dubai.

When this happens and passengers miss connection from Dubai to Bangkok, is the passenger responsible for paying for another flight from Dubai to Bangkok? I have heard that this is the case with Emirates - seems a bit unfair.

Hi,

Assuming all sectors/flights are on ONE single ticket, the connection in Dubai is what's called "protected".

By that it means the airline(s) involved must and will rebook you onto another flight to get you to your destination..

a few notes about this however,

The are NOT required to bump someone else off their later fight to make room for you.. So you really have to wait until there is an empty unsold seat for the airline to rebook you onto.

Unless there is a national law or the airlines contract says otherwise, most airlines do not pay for expenses incurred while you are waiting for that later flight.

Unless there is a national law or airline contract saying otherwise, IF you incur collateral expenses (like a forfeited pre-paid hotel room) the airline is not liable for that either.

Where you DO run a risk is IF you have booked SEPARATE tickets for each leg; such as one ticket that's issued as GLA-DXB-GLA and other separate ticket for DXB-BKK-DXB. In these cases you'd be UNprotected and largely at risk for a missed flight.

No, as GOPBI says it's Emirates problem if you miss the connecting flight if you book a through ticket which I'm assumming you are and if the next flight is the next day they put you up in a hotel and give you vouchers for food.
