Have just come back from Nepal and we used Rasuwa Treks and Expedition. We didn't trek but had a private car, but they do heaps of treks and deal a lot with Australians. It is a family run business and totally reliable, and are based in Kathmandu. Couldn't recommend they highly enough.

I recommend using an agency in Nepal as they you can potentially save a lot of money. HOWEVER use a reputable outfit. Last time I used 'Adventure Challenge Centre' and got ripped off big time. They persuaded us into using a friends shop to buy trekking gear, only 1 hour after using the boots they fell to bits. The agency was no longer interested in helping us as they had our money. We started warning people not to shop there so they even threatened to call the police on us and make up a lie to get us taken away. Very horrible experience in nepal. Fortunately not all agencies are like this. Go with one that has good reviews!

I just got back from Nepal, and booked my trips through a fantastic local company called Nepal Spirit Adventure Pvt. Ltd. I booked my first trip to Everest Base camp, then I booked a 3 day trip to Chitwan through them. I could not have gotten better service. Local, Pleasant, Informative, honest, Licensed, Fair wages, Reputable. I do recommend looking them up if you are planning any trekking in Nepal.

Namaste from nepal and like to tell you to contribute local people in Nepal instead of paying big money o big trek and tour agency so choose freelance guide who normally have small local authorized trek company and organize everything .
