A day in Dakar

I am in Dakar for a day on a cruise ship and would welcome suggestions as to what to do and see.

Hi Kenneth,

I suggest you go to Goree Island and to one of the bigger markets. Between those two things and grabbing lunch (preferably on the island), your day will be complete. If you're only there for the day, don't bother with a guide (unless you don't feel comfortable), they will rip you off. Be sure to pick up a couple words of French or Wolof. Cheers!

Just returned from Dakar this past Sunday. Goree Island and a market are your best bets for a day trip. I agree with the previous post; eat on the island. Good Luck.

The markets are were you can meet many people, also do not forget to go to the catholic churches around you. You may meet your country man. Be-careful of the kind of suggestion here as some of them has nothing to offer.
