Hindu Wedding in Mauritius Nov/Dec

Hi

I was wondering if anyone can help me out with an Indian wedding I am trying to arrange in Mauritius. I need an experienced wedding planner in Mauritius who can help us set up and as well look for a hotel venue that can hold about a 150 guests.

Most of my family live in Maurice but I will have international guests. I can’t confirm but it could be 20- 50 people.

We are looking for a reasonable quote (Rupees) for Hindu Tamil & Hindu Gujarati wedding. We would like to do something slightly different which I am hoping you can help me with.

I’ve put together a couple of options just in case one or the other can’t be achieved.

Option 1 (Preferred option)

• Have a beautiful area on the grounds overlooking the beach and sea view where we can place the Mandap (dedi) for the pundit to perform our religious ceremony with seating for guests or know of where we can be accommodated for this?

• Civil Ceremony

• Catering -veg and non-veg

• Get together party and DJ for 150 people.

• Sega Entertainment

Option 2 (If we can’t do the religious ceremony at the hotel)

• Civil Ceremony

• Catering

• Get together party and DJ for 150 people.

• Sega Entertainment

• Most of the family live in Maurice but I will have international guests who will stop at your hotel. I can’t confirm but it could be 50 people.

Possible Wedding Date Options and Time

• Time start by 2pm or 3pm till late

• Possible Wedding Dates: November 2013 - 19th, 25th, 29th, 30th or 5th and 12th December 2013

I look forward to your reply,

Ruben

My thoughts are the same as Bronia's above, you will get a lot of unwanted attention.

I would have thought your family living in Mauritius would be best placed to arrange the wedding for you.

Thanks Guys,

I've got family helping as well. I just thought I would reach out seeing as there are posts relating to weddings in Maurice.

Contacting hotels myself I'm getting the response that there are very few that can cater for over a 100 people. Some only 30!

I should imagine the hotels are geared up for small wedding parties as not many people would take so many guests with them to a destination wedding! Maurtian hotels are, after all, in the holiday business not specialist wedding planners. You'd probably be better off trying to find a venue that isn't at a hotel. Perhaps an upmarket restaurant??

Hindu weddings include several ceremonies over 3 or 4 days, I've been to a few and most of them have been in the grounds of the bride's home with upto 150 guests so am at a bit of a loss to see how you could arrange this at a hotel.

Weddings are very popular in Mauritius as we all know but are short civil ceremonies. I've seen weddings with just the couple themselves and others with upto 100 plus guests who stay on for dinner and maybe a Sega show.

Hi Ruben

Organizing a Hindu wedding in a hotel in Mauritius can be a nerve-wracking experience and the cost can shoot up to hundreds of thousand of dollars and even in the millions depending on the number of guests and the type of wedding you want to have.

For the wedding, do you mean the traditional Friday to Monday Hindu big-fat with the sangeet, haldi, wedding ceremony, 'reception' and finally 'chowtaree'?

Big hotels do organize Hindu weddings but you have to notify the management well in advance and you have to be there like a week before to look after the preparations and logistics. However, like I said above, the cost will be enormous in either scenario.

of course, you can reduce the expenses by performing only the civil and religious wedding ceremony followed by a party at the hotel.

Anyway, the best way to do this would be for you to land here in Mauritius and then start the preparations.
