Thinking to visit the amazing Mada, but totally confused!?

Hello,

My husband and I are thinking of an adventurous trip to Madagascar this August. Is it going to rain non stop in August or we can be lucky?

Also, any special vaccines that we should be receiving to visit Mada?

All in all, we're pretty active, so would be great to do some amazing sites, e.g. national parks, animals, forests, whale watching, baobabs, canoeing (not bothered about surging though!) etc, so recommendations most welcome?! And finish our adventure by staying somewhere nice for a little beach holiday? We were planning on staying for about two weeks.

Once we have our "landmarks" and know which places we'd like to see, do people just book the flights and hotel for the end of the trip somewhere nice by the beach, and travel by a rented car and just crash overnight anywhere? Or are we better booking the sightseeing tours online? Just trying to figure out what works best!?

Would be great to have an advice, thank you!

Hi Hasina,

Can you advise if the forest is still dense and its worth during a trip to Madagascar in June end July first week. Someone told us there is major deforestation. and its not the same what it was ? so we are really sceptical of considering that option.

Please can you advise

Thanks

Nitesh

I work in the south of Madagascar and as far as vaccines go: make sure your tetanus is up to date and likewise typhoid and hep. The biggest risk to health is from the unfamiliar pathogens which can cause mild diarrhoea to a first timer but nothing serious unless you then become dehydrated, so do take plenty of rehydration sachets and a good quality antiseptic dry spray as I find these invaluable. Drink bottle water and avoid street vendor ice creams etc, as you would in many hotter countries.
