Tana to Tulear

Hi - we are off to Madagascar for 18 days in September/October and are after a suggestion for a good driver/guide who speaks English to get us from Tana to Tulear via Morondava.

We'd like to leave Tana and then see the Allee de Baobob and maybe Kirindy Reserve and then down the coastal road from Morondava to Tulear via Salary Bay.

We are allowing around 5/6 days for this trip - is this a reasonable amount of time to allow for this, as i know the road isn't very good and it will be slow going. Once we are in Tulear we are going to come back to Tana via the RN7, but we won't need a full time driver for that bit as are planning on using some local transport and a driver when needed (Isalo/Andringitra).

Also a guide of how much this might cost would be very welcome.

Many thanks - any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.

5 to 6 days is very tight:

Driving from Antananarivo to Kirindy takes 2 days ( some would argue it's possible in a single day but that would require a driver to drive insane long hours ).

then Kirindy to Morondava is one day, assuming you would like to stop at the alley of baobabs at sunset and overnight in Morondava.

Morondava to Belo sur Mer ( or Manja ) is another day.

Belo sur Mer to Morombe or Andavadaoka is another day.

Andavadaoka to Salary ( or Toliara ) is another day of driving.
