Hello, I'm looking for a few (1-2) travel companions to visit the northern part of Ethiopia next week. I've contacted a local guide a friend told me about, and he did the following proposal (which can still be adjusted in some ways, for example I'd love to do Simien mountains for 2-3 days, but the weather conditions are really bad there right now...):
Hey Taylor, here is the best itinerary I came up with for your friend.
> I just checked about the conditions in Simien and the conditions got
> worse as the rain and fog got heavier. I was considering the possibility
> where we can drive him to the first camping site with the possibility of
> seeing Chiladas and some of the scenaries there to return to Gondar on
> the same day. Travel costs are high and I don’t want to take the chance
> where he might have to return without seeing anything.
> Here is my proposed itinerary:
> August 9: Arrival at Addis Abeba: A partner will wait for him at the
> airport and take hime to his hotel. A quick city tour will be possible
> with an arranged car.
> August 10
> Flight to Bahirdar: since my partner in the city won’t be available on
> that day I will wait for him at the airport and drive him to his hotel.
> A visit of Bahirdar in the afternoon including a boat trip to visit the
> three monasteries on lake Tana.
> August 11
> Nile fall and drive to Gondar: his arrival will be on a Sunday and
> perfect timing to visit the Abay fall. After spending some time there,
> will take a car for Gondar. (farewell with me). My partner in Gondar
> will welcome him there and take him to his hotel. Overnight at his hotel
> after a night outing.
> August 12:
> Gondar visit: a morning city tour and an afternoon visit of the three
> historical sites( castle, pool and Sellassie Church).
> August 13
> Flight to lalibella: affiliate there will arrange car from the airport.
> After hotel check in he will visit the two cluster of churches plus the
> famous bête giorgis church till late afternoon. A night outing will be
> possible as they have unique traditional music there.
> August 14
> Flight to Axum: he will be shuttled to the airport in the morning where
> he will be driven to the airport for a flight to Axum. An affiliate
> there will wait for him to take him to his hotel. The afternoon will be
> spent on visiting the historical sites. Over night in Axum
> August 15
> Flight to Addis: after breakfast he will be driven to airport where he
> will fly to Addis. I will wait for him at the airport.
As told before< I'd really like to do Simien aswell, but if the weather stays that bad, it won't be possible. Anyone interested ?
