Ethiopia for 3 - 7 days

Hi,

My husband and I are considering a stop off in Ethiopia en route to Rwanda, and, depending on how cheap it is to stay in and travel in Ethiopia we'd stay between 3-7 nights.

We are therefore looking for advice on what we should do and see. We adore wildlife so game/ nature options would be great - with the emphasis on what is cost effective. But we'd also love to see some of the culture of the country - how difficult far is it to travel to lalibela from Addis?

We are just at the planning and research stage so warmly welcome any feedback and ideas.

Thank you in advance

If you give me a ring on o1202 303151 Bournemouth or

07930240693 mob I can give u some advice/info.

BUT going back to Addis on Sunday 28th.

Eth is NOT great for wildlife compared to Keny/Tanz.

in 4-7 days you could see a lot of the famous Historical Northern Circuit.

Suggest u google Ethiopia holidays and look at some of the itineraries tour companies offfer--- just for info.

You cetainly dont need to use a tour co.

As long as you don't reduce your time in Rwanda (at least 3 days in Kigali and 3 days to see the gorillas x 2 treks) - you could do:

- 2 days in Addis - go and see the National museum and "Lucy" and try and get out to an authentic restaurant as the Ethiopian food is cheap and outstanding.

- flight from Addis to Lalibela via Ethiopian airways at least once a day. It takes two hours. I've had a quick look at a return in say November and the flight costs £216.

A couple of days here to look at the 11 churches with a licenced guides (available from the tourist office in Lalibela). Try and catch the market near the churches and walk through that (with a guide) because that was very interesting.

Just bear in mind that you will get hassled a bit (children begging etc), which you won't get in Rwanda.

As Addisadvisor said above, there's not much in the way of wildlife so save that for Rwanda.
