Trading for goods

Last year vendors were trading their goods for socks,etc.Does anyone know if they are still doing this or not.

Yes. Shoes are in great demand, quality shirts and pants as well; these items cost them a fortune in the stores. However, they will also want cash; they will not be thrilled with trading for goods only. The price of an object will be - your shoes, plus a few bucks.

Just an observation. I crossed the bridge from Vic Falls to Livingstone in '87. At that time, the Zambian vendors were knocking themselves out to barter(or sell) anything. The situation is reversed now. So much for progress.
