Safaris near Kilimanjaro

Hello,

We are staying in Dar es Salaam from the 1st November for 10 days.We we would like to see Kilimanjaro and do a 2 night and 3 day safari around that area.

Has anyone got any recommendations for travel companies who do this package.

Many thanks

Kilimanjaro is often shy (cloudy). No guarantee you will see it even if there a few days. If you do want to go to Arusha or Moshi, then from there the only safari you can manage in that short of time is Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. I would forget planning to see Mt. kili, save time and do a safari from Dar into Selous or Ruaha. If budget is tight, then go to Mikumi NP. Go to the main Tarangire forum page, and on the right side of the screen are frequent questions. On the list is one for an inexpensive safari.

You have good advice from QM and plenty of options I would follow her advice on where to find a TO...Arusha National park is a good starting point to not only explore Mt. Meru but also West Kilimanjaro. You can camp in the park and then go on a day trip via the back route to West Kilimanjaro...Sanya Juu.

it is a less visited area and beautiful.

Otherwise you can actually stay in West Kili itself there are 2 at last count camps there worth a visit. A local Tanzania TO will book these for you and provide the guide and transport...all you would do is fly into Kili.

2 good advice on above….. For two nights you can visit Tarangire, famous Ngorongoro crater and last Lake Manyara National park. This are the closely parks on the northern circuit. Not such easy to see the kili when you are near close but you can have a view from far like from Arusha if there is no clouds. Most of the TO organize this tour.

Actually Mackornelio the best views of Kili are close up from Moshi, Sanya juu and West Kili.

If you drive to Same you also get beautiful views.
