Hi. There is no way you can fit in Serengeti from Dar by local transport, and no train option. It would take 2 days at least to bus to Seronera in the Serengeti. Don't even think about relying on the train for anywhere in Tanz unless you have spare time. That being said, you might manage to reach the Selous area by train as it originates in Dar, but the pickup for return cannot be relied upon. Game in Selous will depend on time of year. Consider Mikumi National Park. I think you can get off the local bus and have a guide meet you. It is just past Selous. But then how are you going to get around and where will you sleep? You may need to do some homework on that or consider a Tour Operator for that portion of the trip.

When do you plan to travel?

Have you even purchased a guidebook or looked at a map to learn/see where these areas are in relation to one another.

You're not back home, so means of transport are nowhere near what you're familiar. Bus/train are possible, but take quite a bit of time from your actual time anywhere you go.

If at DAR and must go to Zanzibar, than closest parks are in the south, Selous or Mikumi, but then you have to arrange for accommodations, game drives, park fees, etc. You've got to do more research.

I think Selous Game Reserve will suite you then fly from Airstrip to Zanzibar to save the time of driving back to Dar for almost 5 hours.

As sandi. You need to do some more research. The only 3 night safari destinations from DAR or ZNZ would be Mikumi and Selous (or Saadani).

Bus to Mikumi and lodge at Genesis Motel where a car and driver can take you into the National Park daily.

Selous is a ten hour drive from Dar es Salaam and there are no cheap options.

As QM says. Forget the northern parks by public transport.

Have you considered Howletts?

You might get more responses if you start another thread and state where and when you are going.

As this is the DAr Forum I assume southern reserves. If so a mail to Adventure Camps will be of great interest to you as they do several packages.
