Getting through immigration at the airport

How long does it usually take to get through entry requirements at the airport in Dar? Do you think that we will be able to catch a plane to Zanzibar scheduled one and a half after we land?

Much the same as any international airport - depends on how many passengers arrive at the same time; how many are in front of you; how many officials are on duty; how many people need visas etc, etc.

Say anything between 10 and 60 minutes....

I'd be amazed if you didn't catch your onward flight. It's an efficient airport. But do be aware that the domestic terminal is a short 500m drive away.

When you get off the plane in Dar, there are people waiting to "help" you with luggage, etc. They are not airport employees. If you choose, they'll help you with the immigration forms and getting your visa issued. We paid the guy $10 for both visas and getting us and luggage all the way thru to the domestic flight counter. Though he practically pushed himself on us, and then "pushed" us through security, it actually wasn't that bad and he was able to get us thru to domestic in a short amount of time. We weren't unhappy.

I agree. The main scrum seems to be at Visa/Immigration desk whre they seem to collect up a batch of forms and Passports and then stamp em up and hand them back.

Took around 10/15 mins when there in December. Connecting flight to JRO was luckily in same Terminal so we had loads of time to wander over, check in for that flight, talk to the Immigration man about life in general, have a beer and make few phone calls to advise new timings etc,

US/UK airports could take lessons from DAR.

Hopefully, will manage to catch your connection to Zanzibar.

All flights to Zanzibar have offices at International Airport,so just inform them what is going on,so that can give you some more minutes in case of any delaying.

But make sure you inform them half an hour before taking off.

They are very helpful.
