What company was directing the Safari where the hippo charged one lady resulting in her death?
I read a story where she had seen and posted about a river crossing earlier in the day, so likely northern serengeti?
Michigan woman in her 70's there with her son.
Was she on a walking safari ?? Sad news.
Very very sad news, my thoughts are with the familyEdited: 1:23 am, August 12, 2017
Very sad, Poleni sana - very sorry !!
Achnab, do you know what happened in details??. I have been trying to check with few of our driver guides in the bush and nobody knows about where and what happened.
I will update you if i come across the truth of this story.
Bright safaris team.
Sad news I hear that was northern serengeti That there is tourist attached with hippo but no name of camp or safari company such
Such a sad story. I really want to know what safari company was leading her safari.
I do, too, Lynn. And why she was apparently out of a vehicle around hippos. This story is far too vague.
From my guides I hear the client was traveling with Leopard Tours and staying at Migration Camp (Elewana, I believe). Apparently the Leopard Tours guide had nothing to do with this as the clients arranged the walking safari directly with the camp manager. I don't know any of the walking guides at Migration Camp, but I have heard that during the incident there was a lot of chaos and maybe the guide is not at fault here as apparently the group fo client scattered and did not follow his directions, but maybe he also panicked. Who really knows, except those that were there. Walking safaris are high risk and unfortunately there are not many guides that are at the level to do them safely in TZ.Edited: 1:27 pm, August 12, 2017
I hope someone can report the facts. I have been on safaris in Tanzania. This story just doesn't sound right to me. How can tourists scatter on walking safari? How did they get so close to the hippos? Maybe the guide panicked???
We all write reviews when our safaris go well. The TA community deserves to know the facts about what happened and what went wrong.
