walking to gueliz?


we are off to marrakech in a few weeks, staying in a riad in the north of the medina.

i really like and enjoy walking as i feel you see more, Im just wondering how long the walk is and if its easy enough to gueliz from the medina?

Gueliz is the sector of the new town immediately outside the medina walls so is right next door.

from The medina to Gueliz is about 30 minutes walking like you mentioned, taking the way from the gates coming from Jemaa el Fna SQuare, Gueliz named Gueliz because of the "L'egliz" which is situated in the middle of the area L'egliz which means the Church in french.

If you are located in the north east or central north within the medina then your walk will take a little longer. Exiting the city walls (les ramparts) is through Bab Doukkala or one of the smaller northern gates. From Bab Doukkala you could be considering a 10 minute walk to the main post office in Guilez (la Poste) and another 10 minutes to the Acima supermarket at the end of Avenue Mohammed V.

yes we are staying in the riad les trois mage, which is very near Bab Doukkala.
