La Maison Arabe or Riad Farnatchi or El Cadi or Samarkand

Trying to decide between these four. To make it easier perhaps someone with knowledge could compare the first two together apart from the last two; and then compare the last two separately or apart from the first. This is because the first two seem more upscale than the latter two.

My goal is romance and getting the best possible Marrakech experience, which to me is a room with a private view of the Medina and a fireplace with authentic Moroccan decoration.

Also: Does anyone know what the terrace attached to Suite Nour (or Noor) at La Maison Arabe looks out onto?

Thanks and cheers,

Deffinitely la Maison Arabe. Riad Farnatchi has a terrible location, arrogant staff and way overpriced. Riad Elkadi is very quiet and peaceful, great location, but tot as nice as la Maison Arabe. Try to book a suite in the new building, they all have nice terraces overlooking the new swimming pool.

We never stayed at or visited the Riad Farnatchi so cannot comment on the place. We did stay at La Maison Arabe in July -- in the same suite "Noor" that you refer to -- which was recommended by friends from London who had stayed in Noor for their honeymoon. It was beautifully decorated and had a fireplace (that we didn't use in July!). It had 2 terraces that overlooked a small courtyard, and had a very private feel to it. But there was not a view on to the medina. Friends we were travelling with had a room on the upper floor of the hotel's new wing, overlooking the swimmimg pool, and I remember that they had a nice view on to the rooftops of the nearby mosque. FYI the most beautiful view of Marrakech is at sunset from the rooftop terrace of the Cafe de France at the Place Jemaa el Fna. Cheers.

Wherever you stay in Marrakehc don't expect a view from the top as riad rooms generally overlook an inner court yard. However, most riads will have a terrace roof where you can relax and enjoy sunset if weather permits
