Fez or Rabat for three days?

It is our first time to Morocco. We only have 7 days. We will want to do Marrakesh, but are unsure of which to choose.....Rabat or Fez? Can you help us to decide? We'd like to hear which city you prefer and why. I am sure from your replies, we'll get a good idea of what to do. We like the usual stuff......shopping, sightseeing and dining.

Thanks alot.

1. Re: Fez or Rabat for three days?

I love Rabat, but if you have to choose and only have three days, Fez is the place to go. It's the most beautiful and interesting city in Morocco, and to miss it would be a shame. Best to stay in the medina, not the Ville Nouvelle, and good to stay in a small traditional house or a riad. There are about 35 to choose from now, and some are not very expensive.

I'd save Rabat for your next trip when you have more time. It's a lovely modern city with some interesting sites, but there's no comparison between the medina of Fez and the medina of Rabat.
