Seville to Fez and Fez to Grenada

We are planning a trip in December. Is it possible to do Seville Fez in one day? We'll stay in Fez for two days and plan on doing Fez-Grenada also in one day. Thanks.

Seville to Fes is 10 hours straight traveling, not allowing for any time waiting for connections and going through customs. On paper, it may look possible, but realistically it can't be done.

There are no flights from anywhere in Spain to Fes or an airport close enough to allow for such a short trip.

I've done this trip many times starting out from Jerez, only an hour south, and have been able to make it to Fez by the late afternoon/evening. You'd need to get the first bus down to Algeciras in the morning, then an FRS ferry to Tangier (leaves from Tarifa, 20 km away, but the FRS company does have a shuttle to pick you up from Algeciras port and take you to Tarifa). This way cuts down significantly on the time it takes to go Algeciras-Tangier, which can be upwards of 3 hours.

Once in Tangier, you will roll your watch back one hour. The train to Fez takes approximately 5 hours.

Coming back, you'll have to do the same-first train out of Fez (7 a.m.)...ferry back to Tarifa then transfer over to Algeciras for a bus....and you'll be arriving in Granada late that night.

It is possible, the only real issue is why you'd want to do that to yourself if, ostensibly, you're on vacation!

The bus website you need from Sevilla is www.movelia.es. The earliest bus from Sevilla leaves at 9am, arriving in Tarifa at 12:05. Fare is 11.05 euros.

Ferry webpage is www.frs.es. The next ferry when you arrive in Tarifa leaves at 1pm, and would arrive at 12:45pm Morocco time. Fare is 52.20 euros round trip.

I do not have information regarding the train schedule in Fes.

If you want to arrive earlier, you could consider hiring a car and leaving Sevilla at an earlier hour. Either do a one way rental with drop off in Tarifa, or park it for the days you will be gone and then you have transportation to Granada. Obviously that might cost you a fair amount more than just a one day rental, but would give you the convenience of your own schedule. I don't recommend trying to drive a vehicle around the city centers of Sevilla or Granada if you aren't familiar with them, but rather use the vehicle simply to get from point a to point b..... get rid of the car as soon as you arrive in Granada and take public transportation!

To get to Granada, the bus site (different company) is www.ctsa-portillo.com. You must leave from Algeciras. The ride is 3 hours 30 minutes. There are 4 buses a day, leaving at 8am,2:15 pm, 4 pm, and 5:45 pm, cost 18,81 euros.

Train from Algeciras is another option, website www.renfe.es. (you don't want train from Sevilla as there is no direct route) . Train schedule is: 7am arriving 11:28 am; 12:10 arriving 4:54pm; 3:40 arriving 8:10 pm.

You would need to leave Tangiers no later than 1 pm in order to be able to catch the last bus. (due to time change).

You might consider spending one night in Algeciras so that you can catch the early train.

Keep in mind that going through the ports you must go through customs and immigration, so allow plenty of time for that.
