The Middle Atlas is a wonderful region, but I would suggest you seriously consider an overnight as even using motorways it's a heck of a journey from Casablanca.

The easiest route is north on the motorway towards Rabat then east to Meknes where you need to head south towards El Hajeb, then on to either Azrou or Ifrane, whichever you intend to visit first.

Some suggestions re the wild monkeys and a visit to a ski resort set inside the caldera of an extinct volcano: tripadvisor.co.uk/Travel-g616013-c145720/Azr…

Travel in Morocco, even with self-drive is slower than most people imagine. Just the section Taroudannt to Marrakech is a good five hour drive and in winter time the daylight hours are short.

What about heading north east from Agadir up the Paradise Valley to Imouzzer-des-Ida-Outanane, then south east across to Taroudannt? It get you off the main roads which are no fun and you'll get to see more of the 'real' Morocco.
